  1. Sorry Neal, but with respect, you and many others on you tube are ‘old
school’ and are still peddling the same old shit. Record coy lawyers like
Donald Passman are NOT hired by the artiste…but by the record companies
in order to tie up deals so tight and so complex as to baffle the ordinary
muso. As far as I’m concerned, record coys have an abysmal track record of
ripping off artistes left right and centre….want some names??? Prince,
Elton John, George Michael, Michael Jackson et al…need I say more?
Therefore, DIY music career is far better (if managed correctly) than a
shitty financial deal with any record label and the dinosaurs are dying out
thank God. They are however, trying to adapt, but are still using the same
    old tactics!!! ’nuff said!

  2. idea:join the recording academy submit your cd’s for the grammy awards for
    over ten years,release 192 albums..oh wait..hasnt worked for me yet..lol

  3. great advice as I am an aspiring vocalist I beleive the need to mix and
mingle with all other musos to draw from them and create that network of
    cotacts.Your advice is awsome

  4. Neil Portnow SUCKS!! He uses Artists like EMINEM,KANYE & BIEBER for
ratings! NEW YORK TIMES OPEN LETTER: “how is it that Justin Bieber, an
artist that defines what it means to be a modern artist, did not win BEST
NEW ARTIST? His cultural impact and success are even more quantifiable if
you factor in his YouTube/Vevo viewership — the fact that he was a talent
born entirely of the digital age whose story was crafted in the most humble
method of being “discovered” purely for his singing ability.”
